New Zealand – the land of the crazy and fun :)

The flight from Sydney to Auckland only took about 2,5 hours and soon we saw the green hills on this beautiful island (the northern Island).
We took the Airbus and it dropped us off at the hostel we booked, called Auckland Central Backpackers. It was a very very nice hostel and we liked it directly. It seems that they have listened to the backpackers.
We have storage under the bunk-beds with lockers on them, a little fridge in the room, a big kitchen, two tv-rooms, internet, travel-agency, nice laundry-place.
I can’t complain about anything. 🙂

Since we slept very few hours the night before, we rested after having some lunch.
That was about what we did that day. The next day I got my cold so I guess that had something to do with me being so tired.

On Thursday we went out to do some food-shopping and then we sat down at the hostel to figure out how to plan the trip.
With about 100 broschures around us and maps over the two islands, we wrote down what kind of activities we wanted to do during these 2 months.
New Zeeland is like a big play-ground, so there is plenty to do. The sky is the limit, or is it the money? 🙂

We found a car we wanted to rent and it seems to be the cheapest one we could find (since we don’t want to buy a car). It’s one of these:

Not only will we go around whole New Zealand, we will do it in style as well. 🙂
After sitting there for several hours planning, we made some dinner and then we went to bed.

After some breakfast Friday-morning, we went out to shop some warm clothes and some rain-and windproof clothing.
It has been raining quite a lot in Auckland during these two days, so we figured we might as well get that before going out to the country-side.
The rest of the day we rested (still have my cold), made some food, did laundry, watched a very funny movie (Hollywood Homicide with Harrison Ford, Josh Hartnett and Lena Ohlin) and now we will pack and sleep some.

Well tomorrow morning we will be on the road and then we get to see the ”real” New Zealand. Our first stop will probably be Rotorua (www.arrivals.co.nz/rotorua) where we will do some fun stuff.

Yes, Kiwis are not really sane, but I guess it is in a good way. :p
